What is consignment?

Consignment is a structure where the consignee leaves their items to be merchandised at a store (under contract) and is paid a percentage when the items sell. We do not offer direct buyout; the consignee is not paid up front for the items.

What are we looking for?

There are many styles we seek out year round, such as jeans, basics, heels, and more. That said, different items are highlighted in each season. We are currently buying for the Autumn / Winter season.

Autumn - sweaters, trousers, trench coats, layering pieces, cashmere/wool, loafers, sneakers, pumps

Winter - Heavy coats, faux furs, select boots, thick wool/cashmere, hats and scarves

Spring - lighter sweaters, skirts, florals, sneakers/heels, linens, mules

Summer - linens, shorts, sandals, clutches, dresses, wedding guest attire

consignment process

We take consignments by appointment only, so please book your appointment through our online platform. Below, you can find our detailed consignment process and frequently asked questions. All other questions and communications can be sent to the email addresses in our contact section. Our contract, which contains all of our consignment policies, is available to view here.

Our Consignment process

#1 - gather your items

We accept a wide variety of women’s and men’s clothing, accessories, jewelry, shoes, and handbags. We focus on contemporary and vintage designers ranging from higher-end department store brands to top-end couture.

#2 - bring items for consideration

We ask that all items are clean and in saleable condition. Clothing must be hung (or folded neatly in bags), jewelry should be separated and designer handbags should come with receipts or authentications if possible.

We reserve the right to refuse consignment due to condition, presentation, or perceived ability to sell.

If you have pricing expectations for certain pieces, please make the intake personnel aware before leaving your items with us.

#3 - review policies with sales associate

Consignors will receive 50% on items sold under $499. Consignors will receive 60% on items sold at $499 and above

Pieces are on the sales floor for 90 days. A 20% markdown occurs at 45 days on all pieces. A 50% markdown occurs at 70 days on all pieces except all jewelry and handbags over $499

We determine the appropriate selling price for each item based on brand expertise, market research, and resale value. If a piece is found to have an issue, we reserve the right to return the item or request a repair or markdown.

We will notify a consignor if a handbag or jewelry piece requires authentication or appraisal upon intake and/or during processing. We partner with the Luxury Exchange for handbags authentications, and charge $50 per authentication and $160 for Hermes authentications. We partner with Pacific Gem Lab for jewelry appraisals, and charge $120-$150 for each appraisal, only required for unidentified, unbranded and unmarked items.

#4 - monitor status through consignor portal

Once your items have been listed in our database, new consignors will receive an email from Consignor Access. It will direct you to set up your online access portal where you can view your items, prices, balance, expiration dates, and more.

We do our best to offer an informed price that benefits both our consignors and customers. That said, due to the effort and care put into each item, requesting an item back before its expiration will result in a $50 fee per item

#5 - collect payment

Your in-store credit and payout options are available to you at any time. You can come in-store to collect a check or use in-store credit, or you can request a check be sent to you via mail. Your payout is exactly the same whether you choose in-store credit or check.

#6 - Pickup or donate

Once the items are marked returned in the Consignor Access Portal, we ask that you pick up these items within 30 days. Please let us know when you are coming in and we will have them ready for you. Pieces not claimed within that 30 day period will be donated.

You may also choose to donate these items upon intake. With this option, you may drop off items at any time without an appointment, and we will donate the items we don’t take to the Assistance League of Greater Portland. We send donation receipts for tax purposes each January for the prior year.
